Casabianda is a unique open detention facility in France. Here the majority of the around 130 detainees serve sentences for committed “domestic sexual offences”, most of the victims being under aged family members. Massart shoots his film in this place, for and with men, who undoubtedly violated a “universal taboo”. They choose to openly speak to the camera and to reveal themselves, their remorse and views on life in prison and beyond. The confessions are turned into means to retrieve part of their deprived humanity albeit having no illusions about what expects them once they are “free” again.… >>>
