Meeting Gorbachev

Werner Herzog, who wrote film history with works such as “Fitzcarraldo” or the documentary “Grizzly Man”, has collaborated with the anthropologist and filmmaker André Singer to compose a great historical portrait. In addition to the montage of impressive archive images he has created a personal approach to one of the most important living politicians who once changed the world. Herzog did three long interviews, most recently in April 2018, with Gorbachev, despite his illness, shrewdly talking – about the end of the Eastern bloc, Germany’s reunification, political mistakes, the currently difficult relationship between Russia and the West and his political legacy.
