A myth of origins is the point of departure for the exploration of an unusual landscape that is characterized by coral reefs and limestone quarries. On the Swedish island Gotland, the tracks of time are still legible today. The bizarre limestone formations, known as rauken, which are up to 10 meters high, look like ghosts turned to stone. Historical data and fictions of science blend together and tell various chapters of the unusual geological formations. The inhabitants of Gotland have a special relationship to the stones and minerals. They have baptized their rauken.
