now, at last!

Gently, a sloth climbs up a tree and slowly gets comfortable in a relaxed hanging position. With its strong claws hooked into the bark, it rests, surrounded by its lively Costa Rican jungle habitat, seemingly content. The humble beauty of this spectacle of nature, captured on black-and-white film and carefully edited, would be the essence of the film – were it not for some unexpected inserts of psychedelic 60’s pop inspired sequences. It wouldn’t be far-fetched to read Ben Rivers‘ study of sloth time as a humorous comment on the excesses of durational art. However, it might be worth to try and take the experiment seriously as it lasts, lay back, experience the being and time of the sloth and let it work its magic. now, at last!
