As the car door falls shut the rest of the world is closed out. The automobile single-handedly created individual mobility for (western) societies. It dominates ourlifestyle and our habitats. It’s a safe space, a living space, and a sanctuary. It attracts love and hate. The program circumvents the multifarious relations between human and automobile from several perspectives: From adolescent juvenility to the long-term effects of colonialization. A joyride into freedom, an outburst in standstill. Not knowing the consequences, we put our hands on the wheel only to eventually let go of it forever. (JessicaManstetten)
