The Kafka Conference, Or: Dubček Goes Swimming

In 1960, a young writer and a future film director search for Kafka’s sister’s house in a village. In 1963, in a conference at a Czech castle, Kafka is discussed as a victim of the cult of personality who should finally be given a “permanent visa“ in socialist countries. In 1968, reformers attempt to democratize Czechoslovakia and to establish a “socialism with a human face“. In 2018, a young journalist is murdered in Slovakia, while in the Czech Republic, there are protests against the Prime Minister. (Constance Hahn)
