LOOKING FOR HORSES is a film about the friendship between the filmmaker and a fisherman who lost his hearing during the Bosnian civil war and has withdrawn to the solitude of an impressive lake landscape. Captured in a highly poetic cinematic language, in this film camera and sound are the mediating medium in understanding and deeply exploring both of their pasts. For the fisherman, the lake represents a retreat from a wartorn country; for the filmmaker, it represents a return to the land his parents once left. (Stefanie Gaus)
