Faya Dayi

Legend has it that Khat, a stimulating leaf, was found by Ethiopian Sufi Imams in search of eternity. FAYA DAYI is a spiritual journey into the highlands of Harar, immersed in the rituals of the Khat culture. Through the prism of the lucrative Khat trade, the film weaves a tapestry of intimate stories of people caught between violent government oppression, fantasies and treacherous journeys beyond their borders, offering a glimpse into the dreams of youth yearning for a better life.
