Landscapes of Resistance

Sonja (97) was one of the first female partisans in German-occupied Serbia, was captured, tortured and after several concentration camps taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where she helped lead the resistance. Through her memoirs, we travel in the present day through the landscapes of her revolutionary life – to her tiny apartment in Belgrade, where she lives with her husband and a cat. The necessity of her actions also manifests itself as a model for the filmmakers – Sonja’s granddaughter and her partner – in the face of the strengthening of fascism in today’s Europe.
