When it comes to the unique natural landscape of the Alps, which are located in the heart of Europe and encompass eight countries, images immediately spring to everyone’s mind. They are almost always of harmony, grandeur and a life in tune with nature. But the idyll is slowly beginning to crack. In his multi-perspective film, Robert Schabus follows protagonists in different countries, relates stories of rural exodus, lack of prospects, clinging to dying traditions, resourceful investors, ecological catastrophes and, time and again, small glimmers of hope.
