40 million flip flops are lost worldwide every year – and end up as plastic particles in oceans. Despite the awareness of the problems surrounding the production and disposal of plastic, production continues to rise unabated, with predictions of up to four percent annually by 2050. The benefits of recycling have yet to be proven. Is there nevertheless a way out of the plastic problem?
