Bombings and gunfire have been as commonplace for the five Ukrainian youths who grew up in the Donbas since 2014 as the desire for a future and a carefree life they are trying to wrest from the state of war. With an expedition to the Himalayas, their dream is fulfilled for a short time – until the Russian invasion of the rest of Ukraine shatters their hopes in February 2022. The film sensitively paints a portrait of a generation that is able to recognise and celebrate the fragile beauty of life despite, or perhaps because of, the darkness that surrounds them.
