In a grey, featureless office, four people await their hearing. The bureaucratic setting turns out to be a theater stage, as the participants act out their own conversations with the government officials who will judge their case in real life, too. A Nigerian woman, a man from Cameroon, a transgender woman from Sri Lanka and a young Afghan – all four are seeking asylum in Switzerland. What happens when the future depends on telling one's life story convincingly? Lisa Gerig succeeds with a simple move in making a thoughtful, informative, and multifaceted film of great dignity.
