Black Bus Stop

The bus stop at the University of Virginia is a historically volatile place. It was important as a gathering place for students of color in the 1980s and 1990s. The youths, who in the film come together at this square, who dance, sing, and chat, remember the past and revive it once again. In this way, they re-stage not only the students’ conflict with the past, but, with the repetition, they also enter a type of dialogue and engage in a danced, medial writing of history.
