Diary From the Revolution
During the revolution 2011 in Libya, Libyan-Norwegian filmmaker Nizam Najar returns to his hometown of Benghazi to be part of the front-line. There he meets Haj Siddiq, a larger than life rebel leader, who has formed a brigade of relatives and employees of his metal workshop. Trained as mechanics, the militia members quickly learn to operate weapons, but their DIY methods expose them as terrifyingly fragile in confrontation with Gaddafi’s armed forces. While the world experiences the events that eventually bring Gaddafi down from a distance, Najar documents the revolution from the inside. And with the country overflowing with arms, distrust towards a new government and grave economic instability, the death of Gaddafi is far from the end of the story…
