Inventory of the Motherland
A film inspired by the work of photographer Sergei Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944), the inventor of colour photography in Russia. In the footsteps of Prokudin-Gorskii INVENTORY OF THE MOTHERLAND follows two tracks, by boat and train, through the heart and through the North of Russia; each evokes and contrasts his inventory taking vision of the final years of the Russian Empire with a contemporary filmic outlook. INVENTORY OF THE MOTHERLAND is a colourful ode in image, sound and music to a Russia on the verge of Revolution and to the Russia of today.
