The Entity of Machines

The interaction with objects and their "built-in" potential to enter in to contact with us as active intermediaries are phenomena which have had far-reaching effects on human existence since at least the dawn of the computer age. Not only have a multitude of new communication methods, languages and forms been born, but a new relationship to the world of things in themselves has as well. Objects seem to become self-sufficient, to abstract and extend themselves. As a result, these machines develop an existence of their own, one that easily makes us forget the pure utility at their root.

A record is a medium made of vinyl, where acoustic signals are recorded in grooves. Amplitudes show acoustic signals as waveforms. In I WILL NEVER CHANGE, records show acoustic signals as amplitudes. Actually quite simple and elegant as well.

The Invisible World

The Invisible World

The world of material things is lined up in front of us and formed into a collection of shapes, dates and experiences. Objects and things associated with their origin – the production, associated with their use – the use, associated with their user – the individual, are bound up into an independent world with intangible qualities, such as character and willpower.

Days of the Future Past

Days of the Future Past

Objects are flying past the windscreen of a moving car. A voice speaks of experience. Events from video games that correlate with real life. Or perhaps, as it can not be separated, it is the experiences from real life that are reflected in video games.

The Creator

The Creator

During World War II Alan Turing was the instrumental in develop Colossus, a forerunner of modern computers, with which the British were able to decode Nazis radio traffic. Because this device was classified even after the war, Turing did not get the glory for this pioneering work in his lifetime. In other ways, too, this outsider earned little recognition. But while interactions with people were so difficult for him, with machines they were his passions. A dark and abstract Biography between oppressive images of a suffering psyche and the cryptic beauty of digital worlds.
