Up to 16 contemporary media installations and sculptures by up-and-coming as well as well-known artists will be presented at the exhibition Monitoring.

03.DOKFEST LOUNGE

The DokfestLounge is not only the location for audiovisual performances by international artists, VJs and DJs but also the nocturnal meeting point for our guests after 10.30 pm.

04.INTERFICTION

The Workshop symposium interfiction offers lectures, presentations and workshop-sessions concerning a yearly changing topic, which takes a closer look at the political, social and artistic aspects of the medium internet.

05.JUNGES DOKFEST

This educational side program is aimed at school students from the 7th till the 13th grade as well as teachers. The project consists of special film programs as well as workshops about film analysis and criticism under the guidance of media educators.

06.DOKFEST FORUM

The DokfestForum offers panels, lectures and screenings that raise questions about the interfaces between film and art. During the daytime the DokfestForum as a festival meeting point will provide a café with a video library for accredited guests.

07.EDUCATION

With the Hessian University Film Day, the presentation of a European Film College and hands-on workshops and lectures, the Kassel Dokfest offers possibilities for further education, information on education opportunities and access to professional networks for (Hessian) up-and-coming filmmakers.

The winners of the 30thKassel Documentary Film and Video Festival / 22.11.2013

During the closing ceremony on Sunday evening, the four festival prizes of the 30th Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival were awarded. In the traditional way, the film night was opened with a selection of short film highlights from Kassel.

A first assessment of these six days of the festival shows:

More than 13,200 visitors took advantage of the diversity that the festival had to offer. This once again demonstrated the reputation for success and the respect that the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival has earned in the German and international media and festival scene. 

The winners for 2013

The Golden Key, worth 5,000 Euros, for the most impressive documentary by an up-and-coming filmmaker, which is supported by the city of Kassel, went to La parka by Gabriel Serra.

CROP by Johanna Domke and Marouan Omara received a special mention.

The Golden Hercules honors the best cinematic production from Northern Hesse. The prize is worth 3,000 Euros and is sponsored by the Machbar GmbH, Kassel. This traditional prize of the Kassel Dokfest went to EMPTYLANDS by Benjamin Brix, Steffen Martin and Felix M. Ott.

Matthias Krumrey received a special mention for his film Saltwater.

The junges dokfest: A38 – Produktions-Stipendium Kassel-Halle went to Patrick Richter for his film Thirty-nine.

This scholarship is supported by the LPR Hessen (Hesse Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting and New Media) and the Media Institute of Saxony-Anhalt to the amount of up to 3,000 Euros in living costs and a maximum of 1,000 Euros in travel expenses, and is awarded in collaboration with Werkleitz – Zentrum für Medienkunst, who put in up to 4,000 Euros (in the form of equipment and technical and personal services).

Daniel Abma received a special mention for his film beyond Wriezen.

The Golden Cube for the best installation of the exhibition Monitoring, donated by Kassel software company Micromata GmbH, which is endowed with prize money of 3,500 Euros, was awarded to the !Mediengruppe Bitnik and their work Delivery for Mr. Assange.  

Franz Christoph Pfannkuch received a special mention for his installation galaxias.
