Objection!

Thursday, November 12th 2015 AT 12:00 h, Großes BALi

These protagonists have one thing in common: they are protesting. But it is not an open rebellion or an angry agitation, rather a latent crisis and an enduring campaign with complex connections. Protest is expressed in silent refusal, civil disobedience, fraternization and civil rights movements. Side effects of these commitments are exhaustion, fatigue, frustration, disillusionment, which have to be processed and overcome. You need stamina and endurance to face the stress, so hang in there!

Second Deputy Speaker

Second Deputy Speaker

In the Swedish general elections of 2014, the far-right party SD (Swedish Democrats) became the Riksdag’s third largest party. By tradition - and through a formal vote - the chamber honors the large parties by awarding them the Speaker and three deputy speaker posts. Filmed in the Swedish parliament, SECOND DEPUTY SPEAKER gives a critical study of politics and symbols of resistance in parliamentary procedures.

The Flyer

The Flyer

This performance in the public space centers around the absurd cycle and rotation of advertising leaflets. Each prospect grasped by a passer-by is a trace of relation which was established between two people completely indifferent to each other. The author tests whether such activity may establish a closer bond between people. The reactions of participants are varied: from antagonistic to distrustful, to affirmative.

Always Tired

Always Tired

Why am I always tired? Is it because of my age, am I becoming lethargic, or is it an unconscious rebellion? Jochen Kuhn asks himself these questions and at the same time reflects melancholically about today’s merciless meritocracy. We are always on the move in these hectic times, challenging personal boundaries and irritating our neurons. Jochen Kuhn investigates this phenomenon from a distant and ironic perspective.

Gezoindelach

Gezoindelach

As Yehuda reaches the age of 19, he decides to break free from his religious old identity and choose his own path. He enters the western secular world knowing nothing but religious life, with no proper education, common cultural language, or skills to help him succeed, and knowing that his family would cut any connection with him once he has crossed that boundary. The observational documentary follows Yehuda and his friends as they enter the limitless world of youth and freedom, while dealing with their reluctance to release their grip on their sweet childhood memories. GEZOINDELACH portraits the difficulties of leaving a closed society and the endurance and power which is indispensable to do so.
