Growth Spurts

Thursday, November 12th 2015 AT 20:00 h, Großes BALi

The personal growth of 3 people in 3 different stages of life is the subject of this film programme. A boy evolves with and through his film parts into a teenager, a young filmmaker questions her mother and her perception of gender roles on camera and an older woman embarks on a journey to find herself after the death of her husband. 3 films that take a (humorous) look at personal growth spurts and processes, their inherent rebellion and the emancipation from childhood perceptions, parent values and conclusively a former self.

Kacey Mottet Klein, Birth of an Actor

Kacey Mottet Klein, Birth of an Actor

8 years. 12 years. 15 years old. A body is growing and developing in front of the camera, absorbing sensations and emotions, confronting its limits and its darker hidden parts. A body that through the years abandons itself to the character, transforming what could be seen as simple (children's) play-acting into the true work of an actor. A portrait of an adolescent who has created himself with the camera.
