Pity Makes it Hard to Die
A small village in southern Brandenburg. Eleven deaths in the last few years - by murders, suicides and accidents. The villagers’ reports reveal the past of the village. Graveyard rumors, peasant wisdom and the passing society systems draw a mosaic of life and death in this place. Strictly composed pictures and a focusing camera go beyond a partly amusing, partly astonishing chronicle of death, are the psychological profile of a rural microcosm which discloses the constitution of East German life realities.
