Detropia
At the beginning of the 20th Century the city of Detroit, Michigan, would gain increasing significance as it became the center of the growing automobile industry. For a long time the “Motor City” was home to large production branches from General Motors, Ford and Chrysler. Globalized markets and periods of economic crisis led to a sharp decline in the standard of living in the city and to poverty for many of its inhabitants. Today Detroit is one of the fastest shrinking cities in the USA. This film shows the decline of the city in haunting images, but also chronicles the persistent fight of the people who still want to live there.
