What We See Looks Back at Us
Views in films are predetermined through the details and perspectives of the camera. They are part of the plot and consciously transport content and, in concepts of the psychology of perception and aesthetics, also subconsciously. Since this changes the attitude, with which we view something, it is as if views are redirected back towards us. The way the films of this program view people, lets them communicate with us in their special way and lets us participate in the seen.
La Java Bleue
Photographs and recorded original sounds let the viewer become an eavesdropper at a care facility for Alzheimer’s patients. We are close to the patients but never too close or without respect. We get to know there special routine, parts of their history and the struggle of their loved ones not to lose them.

A swimming, a driving and a jogging woman: through the guided view of the camera we are part of these episodes. We assume a connection between them using our cinematic memories and therefore become an active part of and a link between the scenes.
East Hastings Pharmacy
A female pharmacist of the EAST HASTINGS PHARMACY, protected behind glass, distributes Methadone in Vancouver’s problem neighbourhood. The film shows the interaction between the persons, who come to pick up their daily dose, and the pharmacist, without commenting. The woman works with a professional routine and a certain distance, even though this requires discipline and some hardship on her side.
