Influence of Mars

INFLUENCE OF MARS employs film-making to reveal hidden instinctual behavior. The filmmaker asks her ten year old son, Harvey, about his arsenal of weapons, many of which are intended for other use; the handle of a back brush, juggling batons, and a plastic cricket stump. The Remembered Film

Young soldiers from previous wars are seen roaming the woods aimlessly. They wear the uniforms of the Soviet troops, the Wehrmacht or the American military forces during the Vietnam war. Operation Jane Walk

OPERATION JANE WALK is based on the dystopian multiplayer shooter “Tom Clancy’s: The Division”. In this work, the game’s digital war zone is humorously and artistically appropriated. Bound by the rules of the games software, the militaristic environment is being re-used for a pacifistic city tour. The urban flâneurs avoid the combats whenever possible and become peaceful tourists of a digital world, which is a detailed replica of Midtown Manhattan. While walking through the post-apocalyptic city, issues such as architecture history, urbanism and the game developer’s interventions into the urban fabric are being discussed.… >>>
