“Today is 11th June 1993. The war has been going on for very long. I've tried everything to get out, to save myself, nothing worked. The only thing left is (...) a time machine (...) and someone, watching this in the future will come and get me out of this.“ During the Yugoslavian war, a group of young people imagines the escape from the enclosed city of Sarajevo with the help of a time machine. 25 years later, director Clarissa Thieme revisits the appeal of the past with the help of translator and speaker Grace Sungeun Kim addressing the future anew. TODAY IS 11th JUNE 1993 was developed in collaboration with the Library Hamdija Kreševljaković Video Arhiv in Sarajevo, a private collection of amateur videos, in which the inhabitants of Sarajevo documented their lives under siege.… >>>

Confluence

CONFLUENCE centers on Serbian pop singer and former child star Doris Bizetić. In a mixture between pop video and lecture performance, completely in 1990s fashion Doris’ biography is conflated with histories of architectures in Belgrade. While she is recounting her childhood memories and personal war trauma, her story is merged with the architectural history of Belgrade's Ušće-Tower. Her life mirrors the changes in Serbia's political system and draws attention to the political exploitations of art and pop culture.… >>>
