Esther is 12 years old when the Berlin Wall falls and she learns about her relatives in Israel. For the daughter of a physician about whose role in the NVA she was not supposed to know, being Jewish and the western foreign countries had been taboo. After the loss of socialist certainties, the Israeli Kibbutz turns into a place of longing. While getting to know her family better who had partly been involved in the development of the GDR and partly in the formation of the state of Israel, she recognises many contradictions. Cinematically meandering through time, the now 40-year-old actor documents her search for identity, which in the end leaves more questions than answers, but that does not stop her from standing behind her ancestors.… >>>
