People with different cultural backgrounds are sitting together in a classroom and are listening to their own dialogs. We are in a high school in Berlin Lichtenberg in a so-called “welcome class”. The ultimate goal of these classes is to acquire language skills and develop a basis for integration. Teachers and students talk about their experiences and impressions. How can this different knowledge get into a productive exchange? Who learns from whom and how? The model “welcome class” is both offer of integration and rules. It oscillates between the idea of adaptation and the promotion of contact between young refugees and Germans.
