Sound Tracks

(BALi Kinos, KulturBahnhof Kassel)

As an art, cinema follows rhythmic patterns rooted in both, time and space. A certain rhythmic progression at a specific time or place, be it chords, tones, or simply a voice, can be emotionally electrifying, or devastatingly terrifying. Sound structured in patterns acutely triggers us, not at last because physically, we cannot mute our sense of hearing. SOUND TRACKS is not dedicated to original scores in the traditional sense, but focuses on strategies of sound conception. Ranging from sound visualization, to protest, and karaoke, the mere presence of sound often inspires a range of fantastic metamorphoses in our mind. The voice in particular resonates beyond traditional conceptions of space, as we know from the healing, liberating, and soothing effects of singing.
