Paris Calligrammes

Gloria Kino

"I was 20 years young and came to Paris with the goal of becoming a great artist." This is how filmmaker Ulrike Ottinger begins her declaration of love for the Paris of the 1960s. In a sensual flow of images, she shows the cultural richness of the German-Jewish exiles, the inspiring milieu of the literary cafés and jazz cellars as well as the upheavals of May 1968. Personal memories of her encounters with the artistic and political avantgarde are wittily linked with chansons, fascinating archive material and current observations.
