One sometimes wants to escape from one’s own skin. Taking it off is impossible, but it can be rethought and transformed. In this program, documentary work captures not only the act of change, but the essence of transformation: what happens in the social environment when a person or a story is no longer the one you knew? How can reenactments function as comprehensible participation or even be political? With the following five films, the cinema opens up a space for unexpected participation in the process of documentary filmmaking.
It took a while for Andalusian drag queen Belilal to understand how and why she consciously embodies folkloric elements in her performances, despite the fact that these very symbols are strongly associated with Spain under Francoism. Folklore and queerness are firmly part of Andalusia's identity. But how does one overcome the stigma of a tradition tainted with oppression? As the camera follows Belilal during her make-up routine, she confidently talks about the strategy of working and living with and under folklore. As on a high horse sits the motorcyclist proudly on his bike. Everyone else wants to ride too, but he wouldn't lend his Honda to anyone. In this reenactment, mise en scène is used as a means to illustrate foolishness and hubris. Sometimes a sound collage of an arcade caricatures the driver's arrogance, sometimes a Wagner hymn accompanies his rounds in the jungle. Through these juxtapositions, the reference to the lived reality of the young protagonists is established.… >>>

There are soft and hard components that make up Lotta's personality. Lines from a letter from a friend can be heard off-camera. The search for the right Aline turns out to be as important as the planned reenactment.
