How I Became a Partisan
Drawing on her own family history, the director works through the partisan history of Slovakian Roma in the Second World War and contrasts it with the living conditions of the Sinti and Roma, which are marked by constant prejudice. To do this, she goes to the actual places of historical persecution, where she always advocates for a fundamental paradigm shift in the way they are treated and for making their history visible. She illustrates the film with archive material and thereby creates an intimate chronology of historical gaps and a memorial against modern antiziganism. (Julia Pirzer)… >>>
