Jonas Mekas – at home everywhere and nowhere. An artist’s portrait and at the same time a portrait about art, JONAS IN THE FIELDS is not infrequently reminiscent of Mekas’ own deeply subjective and autobiographical way of filmmaking. A tribute to a filmmaker and auteur, also called the “godfather of American avant-garde cinema,” who managed to unite so many worlds. A wistful as well as serene memoir that passes by various stations, places and personalities that shaped Mekas or that he shaped.
