Cherry Bone

After 25 years in Germany, the filmmaker decides to move to another foreign country. As a young girl in the 1990s, she came from the former Soviet Union to Germany with her family as so-called "Jewish contingent refugees". This new departure reminds her of that time. From her perspective today, not only her story but also that of her parents seems new. How did they experience the events back then, after giving up everything - their careers, status and friendships? The film allows the filmmaker to have a dialogue with her parents about their expectations of one-another and the question of belonging. A special story of family and immigration.
