Outside the virus is mutating, inside is the world that has become small consisting of the living room, the kitchen, bath, bedroom and the Wifi. Inside-outside-relations change during the pandemic. The living room is being renovated and is then prepared for long stay-at-home phases. Social relations are being boiled. Through all openings of the apartment you peek out skeptically: is life raging somewhere outside in secret, is it infectious, do we notice it at all? Sitting around, being together, retreating, these phenomena gain new qualities – and the self-perception is reassembled in passivity. The protagonists operate on a few square meters, they wait for domestic sensations: the long-awaited conversation, the interrupted long-distance relationship, the sex date, somebody new, a camera or a whirlwind of thought penetrating deep into autobiographic layers. The dryer runs, The Carpenters sing “Close to You”, outside it’s raining frogs. (Jan Künemund)
