#20 Carving Out Our Names

(BALi, KulturBahnhof Kassel)

We should carve our names into the black soil. Before this too is taken from us. Quickly. We don't have much time left. About the intimate boundaries of relationships, the collective struggle to remain visible and the protected retreat of our dreams – this program celebrates queerness and at the same time shows how fragile the existences and securities of queer places and lives actually are. We must not forget to dream before the ground is pulled out from under our feet. (Matti Ullrich)

Auf der Kippe

That afternoon, 23-year-old Naomi decides to visit an open-cast lignite mine that has a special meaning for her. Cat accompanies Naomi there. On the way to the mine, they negotiate what their relationship to each other and to nature as an endangered habitat means. They experience a togetherness that softens the seemingly hard boundaries between friendship and romantic love.
In AUF DER KIPPE, Veronika Sophie Hauger and Johanna Marie Scheler work with a FLINTA*s-only team to uncover and change discriminatory power structures on the film set. (FLINTA* is a German acronym that stands for women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people. The asterisk represents all non-binary gender identities.)
