Golden Cube

Exhibition Monitoring

The works in the exhibition Monitoring are competing for the Golden Cube for the best media installation, which is endowed with €3.500 by the Kassel located software company Micromata GmbH.

In 2025 the selection committee has selected 17 works from more than 200 submissions. The selected works were exhibited at the Kasseler Kunstverein and KulturBahnhof (Kubatur, Stellwerk, Südflügel) during the 42nd Kassel Dokfest.

Between the "white cube" as an exhibition space for contemporary art and the "black box", a presentation room for films painted black, the Golden Cube has an intermediate position in which it explicitly promotes the interplay of spatial and visual aspects of media installations.

Miriam Bettin is a curator and writer. Since September 2025, she has been the director of the Mönchehaus Museum in Goslar. Her work creates spaces for queer-feminist and decolonial perspectives. She recently curated exhibitions at Museum Folkwang and in the context of the Venice Architecture Biennale, and was a fellow at the G.A.S. Foundation in Lagos, Nigeria. Previous positions include the Kölnischer Kunstverein and Kunstverein Braunschweig.

Christoph Keller frequently employs art's discursive possibilities to explore the themes of science and its utopias, often through installations that resemble experimental configurations. Keller's artwork, which includes film, photography, spatial and medial interventions, as well as writing, has gained international recognition. Since 2024, Keller has been head of the class for art in a contemporary context at the Kassel Art Academy.

Jule Witte works at Micromata. Her heart beats for the social commitment and corporate communications of the software company. In this context she has been involved with the Kasseler Dokfest for many years and is delighted to follow the footsteps of her colleague Wolfgang Jung in the Golden Cube Award jury. She also personally values independent art – as a contemporary witness, source of inspiration and eye-opener. Her respect therefore goes to all those who use their creativity to provide new perspectives and food for thought. And she is proud that Micromata has been able to donate the prize money for the Golden Cube Award for so many years.
