At tomorrows University Portrayal (Friday / 3:30 p.m. / BALi) short films made by students of the Helsinki Metropolia of Applied Sciences are presented.
Heikki Ahola, lecturer for film editing, will present together with some of his students a compilation of nine short films consisting of the latest works of the University, most of them German festival premieres.
Subsequently to the screenings, discussions offer the audience the possibility to talk to both the lecturer and the young talents.
Film and Television trains BA students specializing in Image and Editing, Sound, Production Management, Scriptwriting or Television and Radio Production. The four-year studies consists of practical exercises and theory, including general studies as well. The structure of studies are mainly project-based. The first year focuses in documentary storytelling. Both Film and TV- as well as TV and Radio-production accepts approximately 20 students yearly through 3 to 5-day evaluation exams. There is no tuition for the degree program. In the last 10 years students have produced more than 200 short documentaries and many of them have been awarded at international film festivals. Students of the degree program also produce fiction short films and occasionally feature length documentaries. The degree program collaborates closely with the professional field and client works are part of the study plan. Helsinki Metropolia UAS is a full member of CILECT - The International Association of Film and Television Schools. The preselection of works included in the festival‘s program was curated by Heikki Ahola.
