During the closing ceremony on Sunday evening, the four festival prizes of the 31st Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival were awarded.
A first assessment of these six days of the festival shows: More than 14,000 visitors took advantage of the diversity that the festival had to offer. Due to the new section DokfestGeneration almost 800 more visitors came to the film screenings. 580 accredited guests from all over the world were enthusiastic about the wide range of the Kassel Dokfest. This.once again demonstrated the reputation for success and the respect that the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival has earned in the German and international media and festival scene.
WINNERS 2014:
The Golden Key, worth 5,000 Euros, for the most impressive documentary by an up-and-coming filmmaker, which is supported by the City of Kassel, went to The Private Life of Fenfen by Leslie Tai.
Eugène Gabana Le Pétrolier by Jeanne Delafosse and Camille Plagnet received a special mention.
The Golden Hercules honors the best cinematic production from Northern Hesse. The prize is worth 3,000 Euros and is sponsored by the Machbar GmbH, Kassel. This traditional prize of the Kassel Dokfest went to Emil by Martin Schmidt.
Julia Geiß received a special mention for her film Vier danach – Highland's Kinder.
The junges dokfest: A38-Production Grant Kassel-Halle went to Guido Hendrikx for his film Escort.
This scholarship is supported by the LPR Hessen (Hesse Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting and New Media) and the Media Institute of Saxony-Anhalt to the amount of up to 3,000 Euros in living costs and a maximum of 1,000 Euros in travel expenses, and is awarded in collaboration with Werkleitz – Zentrum für Medienkunst, who put in up to 4,000 Euros (in the form of equipment and technical and personal services).
The Golden Cube for the best installation of the exhibition Monitoring, donated by Kassel software company Micromata GmbH, which is endowed with prize money of 3,500 Euros, was awarded to Bertrand Flanet and his installation Unmanned Distances.
Daniel Laufer received a special mention for his work REDUX.
