Unnoticed by large parts of the (Western) public, heavy fighting took place in the southern Philippine city of Marawi in 2017, in which the army took strong actions against Islamist fighters who had gained control of the city. Numerous people were killed, hundreds of thousands of inhabitants had to flee and the city center was almost completely destroyed. The two filmmakers accompanied different protagonists over a period of two years on their way back to „normality“. They give the survivors a voice and a face.
