Filmmaker Heiko Volkmer uses his book “Mein Erkenntnisweg” as a starting point in order to look into questions that unfold with regard to the meaning of work in our society. Subjective thoughts, fictional biographies and academic work that are highlighted in the book construct a cinematic narrative that follows the entire process of book production. At the same time the film allows insights in the publishing business through people who talk about their work and their life, as the content of the book and the statements of the protagonists are often surprisingly contiguous to one another.
