Once Upon a Time... Life
The midnight program invites us to follow a curious trio of narrators on a trip along mental paths seldomly trodden: A procreation critic, who strives to heighten the appreciation of the placenta, a dog owner, who, while his pet is undergoing surgery in the next room, reminisces about their friendship, and an alcoholic with an askew sense of self. All of them are searching for the meaning of life in their very own way and meander in inner monologues through real and imagined underbrush.

An old man takes his beloved dog to a dark hospital run by a Russian doctor who looks like Adorno. His quadruped’s blood has to be cleaned.While the animal is hooked up to a machine, his master spends the draining waiting time in mental conversation with his canine friend. A found footage mantra about life, death, and other ordinary things.

"There is no future in reproduction. I have no concern with any species extending itself through time. You think you have given birth to a baby, when really you have given birth to a bus driver, or tax collector. Instead I'm interested in the placenta, the real mother of us all, forgotten discarded. The softest machine, all lipids and blood, that blooms and rots like any vegetal/floral martyr. That umbilical cord did not connect you to your mother. It connected you to that most partial of objects — the placenta — part you, part mom, all marytyr and garbage. It is not the after birth but the essence of birth itself." (Steve Reinke)
