Milk and Honey

Paradise is a utopian place that knows no hunger or suffering. On the contrary: in paradise, there is more than enough of everything. This idea of a life of abundance arose at the end of the Middle Ages as a radical ideal of the poor rural populations and urban lower classes. For some present-day societies the dream seems to have come true. However, this apparent prosperity has its downside. Not only is it more precarious than it seems, it is also based on the exploitation and destruction of the entire ecosystem. Our postcapitalist present has less and less to do with a fair distribution of work and is increasingly about making idleness more bearable.
