Up to 16 contemporary media installations and sculptures by up-and-coming as well as well-known artists will be presented at the exhibition Monitoring.

03.DOKFEST LOUNGE

The DokfestLounge is not only the location for audiovisual performances by international artists, VJs and DJs but also the nocturnal meeting point for our guests after 10.30 pm.

04.INTERFICTION

The Workshop symposium interfiction offers lectures, presentations and workshop-sessions concerning a yearly changing topic, which takes a closer look at the political, social and artistic aspects of the medium internet.

05.JUNGES DOKFEST

This educational side program is aimed at school students from the 7th till the 13th grade as well as teachers. The project consists of special film programs as well as workshops about film analysis and criticism under the guidance of media educators.

06.DOKFEST FORUM

The DokfestForum offers panels, lectures and screenings that raise questions about the interfaces between film and art. During the daytime the DokfestForum as a festival meeting point will provide a café with a video library for accredited guests.

07.EDUCATION

With the Hessian University Film Day, the presentation of a European Film College and hands-on workshops and lectures, the Kassel Dokfest offers possibilities for further education, information on education opportunities and access to professional networks for (Hessian) up-and-coming filmmakers.

For the 31st time the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival will present the diversity of regional, national and international documentary work in all its variations.
About 250 international short and feature length documentary films as well as experimental and artistic works will be presented during the six days of the festival. The program is complemented by the media art exhibition Monitoring, audiovisual performances and VJing at the DokfestLounge, the workshop seminar interfiction, the DokfestForum and several events dedicated to young Hessian filmmakers. All in all, it adds up to a profile that is unique among the festival scene. The 31st Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival will take place from November 11 to 16.

Golden Key for the best up-and-coming documentary of a young director (5,000 Euro, supported by the City of Kassel)
Golden Hercules for an outstanding production from the region of Northern Hesse (2,500 Euro, sponsored by the corporate communications company Machbar GmbH)
Golden Cube for the best installation of the Monitoring exhibition (2,500 Euro, sponsored by the software company Micromata GmbH)
junges dokfest: A38 Production-Grant Kassel-Halle awarded in cooperation with Werkleitz - Centre for Media Art. Thanks to the kind support of the LPR Hessen and the Medienanstalt Sachsen-Anhalt (regulatory authorities for commercial broadcasting in Hesse and Saxony-Anhalt) the grant includes up to 4,000 € for living and traveling expenses and up to additional 4,000 € for allowance in kind
