Since 2001, the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival has been awarding prizes which are generally aimed at the younger generation of artists. And for the past five years, particularly innovative achievements in film, art and art mediation have been awarded an honorary award. This is aimed at creators of film and culture who are either from the region or are, in some special way, connected with Kassel Dokfest.

2022: Graduate School for Moving Image: Analog Realities, Digital Materialities (Kunsthochschule Kassel)

In 2021, in view of the challenges given by the COVID-19 and in agreement with the prize donor, the Honorary Award, which is endowed with 3,000 Euros, was beeing rededicated. HÜBNER GmbH & Co. KG promoted the visibility of the North Hessian work on the festival's online platform.
