DokfestForum

Events

The DokfestForum was established 2010 as a festival meeting point together with the Kunsthalle Fridericianum. The panels, lectures and screenings that are offered as part of the festival program raise questions about the interfaces between film and art, “Black Box” and “White Cube”, and aim to trigger discussions about film and artistic work as well as current developments in the media landscape.

The DokfestForum has seen such panel discussions as “Cinema or Museum – Where is the Place of the Artistic Film?” in 2010 and artist’s talks about the changing conditions of production and presentation of video art and the role of the archive in the times of youtube and co. (2011).

One of the inherent parts of the program at the DokfestForum are talks with the artists, whose works are presented in the exhibition Monitoring. This is an opportunity for them to give an even more substantial introduction to their work and discuss it with the audience. The artist’s talks are moderated by the curators and organizers of the exhibition.

The series of events “In the Focus” is dedicated to a specific position, which is located in the threshold between artistic and cinematic production. In the first editions of the DokfestForum John Bock and Christian Jankowski gave insights to their work in talks with Rein Wolfs.

The Festival Meeting Point with Media Library for Accredited Guests

Next to enjoying some cake, a bowl of soup, a cup of coffee or the wireless internet, festival guests are given the opportunity to get together, talk and discuss about what they have seen and heard during the festival.

For accredited guests there are four digital viewing terminals enabling individual access to a majority of the festival program.

DokfestForum in the documenta year

In 2012 the DokfestForum will not be located in the Kunsthalle Fridericianum, as it is usually, due to the documenta 13. More information about the new venue will follow soon.
