Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest

Stemming from a long cooperation, the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival and Werkleitz – Center for Media Art award the A38 – Production grant together. The up to two month scholarship is made possible through the commitment of the Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting in Hesse (LPR Hessen) and the Medienanstalt Sachsen-Anhalt (regulatory authorities for commercial broadcasting in Saxony-Anhalt) and is endowed with up to 3,000 € for accommodation and up to 1,000 € for travel costs.

The idea is to inspire the artist to a new audiovisual work by getting to know both cities of Kassel and Halle, which are linked by the A38-motorway. The work will then be produced at Werkleitz – Centre for Media Art in Halle making use of technical support, worth up to 4,000 € for allowance in kind. The new cinematic work should also appeal to a younger audience on an eye-to-eye level. To “rejuvenate” the focus of this grant the jury will be accompanied by three additional young members.

Depending on the project’s completion date, it may premiere during the next Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival and/or be presented as part of the Werkleitz Event Programme. The award-winner is invited to join the jury of the Kassel Dokfest in the year following their residency.
The selection committee of the festival nominates a maximum of 15 works from the festival program for the grant.
