In December 2011, Berlin's House of World Cultures extended an invitation to a symposium on the state of democracy. The speakers' status reports were frightening: in the wake of the Euro Crisis, the seemingly sole option of “saving the markets,” the gamble on the common currency, seemed to have gotten the upper hand on political visions and institutions. In Romuald Karmakar's documentary, which he himself classifies as “found footage,” pundits, artists and intellectuals such as Franziska Augstein, Ingo Schulze and Roger Willemsen contribute straight talk and call for resistance.
