junges Dokfest: Typical!
The word "typical" is often used in interaction with others. The cinematic views of standard types of behavior collected under this heading and the conflict situations associated with them make it clear how one's view itself can change the relationship to the other. Typical! is a series of strange phenomena, an ironic presentation and critical questioning of (cliché) images, images that always seem to want to make themselves at home in our heads.

Beige
It seems like there is an unspoken, secret dress code to which German senior citizens have dedicated themselves: upon reaching retirement age they tend to prefer wearing beige. At least that is what the Hamburger filmmaker Sylvie Hohlbaum observed. But why should she care? As her father stood in front of her dressed completely in beige shortly after his 65th birthday, she had to find answers: are aging and beige-ing inseparable? Is my dad somehow old now? And...are we all going to beige eventually? A personal homage on the color of old age.

Fratzengulasch
In the music video FRATZENGULASCH a group photo taken from a flea market is collaged by means of graphic animation and transformed in to a bizarre montage of sounds and images. The static black and white photos are embellished with colored markers and the pictured students from the 1920s have their heads replaced with the grimacing faces of the band members from Die Vögel. In the end the camera zooms out to reveal that the whole thing is a collage hanging on the wall.

Father
When was the last time you talked to your father? Are you ever going to talk to him about the things that hurt you? Two simple questions and five stories which are tied together in one animated film. The individual episodes end up differing from one another in their answers as much as they differ from one another stylistically. The director has succeeded in creating a film as profound as it is poetic in its treatment of the relationship between father and child.

Adele 1
This video would actually be perfect for youtube: Kurdwin Ayub sits in front of her laptop, speaks directly in to the camera by way of introduction and says that now she wants to sing a song that fits her current situation well. The tune is the love song Someone Like You from Adele. In contrast to the countless cover versions on youtube though, Kurdwin Ayub doesn't use the song to display her vocal virtuosity but instead soon loses herself in lines, tones and emotions, only to end up staring straight ahead in resignation.
