Lebens-Wandel

No matter where you go, even if the world keeps turning, things are still going to happen, things that can't be controlled. Life is indeed a river, sometimes splashing along happily, sometimes all raging rapids, impossible to tame. Life is marked by one's own highly personal content, from things that have meaning, and ideas that one wishes to pursue as long as possible. But life isn't always "plan-able." It can get out of hand through unfortunate events or changes brought about by others. That's when it's time to find solutions, so that everything keeps going.

Mika

Mika

"Mika was one of the first people who helped me find a room. He offered me his bus in the driveway for emergencies. Mika could tell incredible stories about France, America, Hawaii, Spain. He had seen a lot, stuff that may have left the limits of a "normal," normalized life too far behind him. But with his street smarts and his sense of humor, he was able to get himself out of any situation. He said he could format brains and I believed him.
Often he spoke seriously, always really quickly, and never without his warm grin. A charming gangster. He was excited about the art students in the squat that were helping out with a few things. He was on the same trip back then too. With his girlfriend by his side and off of hard drugs, he was doing better and better. On December 18, 2011, Mika was shot to death."

Controlled

Controlled

Maik is likeable and well-off. He plays tennis, likes his little sister and his friends, especially Thomas. Still the 18-year-old has to sit across from a psychologist in a therapy session and confront the events of an upsetting night. His cultivated facade crumbles more and more the deeper he reflects on that night. But as much as he'd like to confide in someone, he just can't. Little by little the viewer learns what kind of crisis of conscience Maik is caught in, one of friendship, manipulation, loyalty and honesty. The end of the film is actually a beginning that leaves the viewer thinking.

COMMODITY FETISHISM

COMMODITY FETISHISM

In COMMODITY FETISHISM Catrine Val transforms herself over and over with the help of a bunch of thrown-together costumes. The backdrops for these conspicuous and at times bizarre transformations seem to be provided by everyday situations and places. The construction that brings them together becomes the video's center.

Afraid of Change

Afraid of Change

For the autistic, change can be very upsetting. They often develop complicated rituals in order to keep their environments under control. Such is the case with the 42-year-old autist and photographer Andreas Kuhl, who has been accompanied in his everyday life by filmmaker Christian Landrebe, who allows us to share in this insight.

Spielerberater

Spielerberater

Agents for football players have a miserable reputation. 43-year-old Joerg Neblung knows it too well. He is the owner of "Neblung Sportsnetwork" and gained notoriety when his client, German national team goalie Robert Enke, took his own life in 2009. Klaus Stern followed this self-labeled "light-grey" sheep among the black sheeps of the football agents for six months, in negotiations over transfers, conditions and contract extensions, as well as in his work with his clients, currently including the former national team goalie, Schallke 04's Timo Hildebrand.
