Low Defintion Control - Malfunctions #0
Wherever we go or stand – we are being watched. This fact has been the impetus for many filmmakers to investigate the phenomenon of the “transparent citizen.” In his outstanding film essay LOW DEFINITION CONTROL, Michael Palmer manages however to go a step further and to make surveillance pictures tangible for the viewer by letting experts from various disciplines (sociology, psychology, security, etc.) comment on the problematic issue. The result is a highly interesting interplay between science and the knowledge of what surveillance means for and to each individual one of us.
